Osmotic demyelination syndrome

Osmotic demyelination syndrome(ODS)는 osmotic change에 의한 acute demyelination이 발생하는 질환으로, hyponatremia의 급속한 교정시 발생할 수 있다.

• central pontine myelinolysis(CPM), extrapontine myelinolysis

  • The pontine tegmentum often is spared.
  • extrapontine location: the basal ganglia and thalamus
• lack a mass effect.
