Melorheostosis

Melorheostosis는 A rare benign sclerosing bone dysplasia를 일으키는 희귀 질환이다.

임상 양상

• Clinically, Asymptomatic
• bony swelling, pain, localized growth abnormalities, stiffness, or joint deformities

Imaging features

• “The dripping candle wax sign”
  • sclerosis of one side of the cortex and appears along the long axis
• The lower extremity > the upper extremity
  • rarely involves the spine, skull, and facial bones
  • Segmental and unilateral
    • only one bone (monostotic), one limb (monomelic), or multiple bones (polyostotic).
• The hyperostosis predominantly involved the outer cortical surface.
  • the endosteum with marrow space encroachment
  • the marrow adjacent to sites of hyperostosis had normal signal intensity on all pulse sequences.
  • no abnormal enhancement in hyperostosis

differential diagnosis

• Perosteal osteosarcoma
• Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy
• Sclerotic metastasis
• Myositis ossificans
• osteoma
