Esophagus

식도(Esophagus)는 oropharynx로부터 stomach으로 이어지는 gastrointestinal tract이다.

Anatomy

• Length: 20~24cm
  • 위 내시경 상의 UI(upper incisors 15~40cm의 거리)
• Diameter: 1~3cm
  • Between swallows the esophagus is collapsed but the lumen can distend to approximately 2 cm in the anterior-posterior dimension and up to 3 cm
• outer longitudinal, inner circular muscle
• UES(upper esophageal sphincter)
• LES(lower esophageal sphincter): manometrically as a high-pressure zone measuring 2 to 4 cm in length in the esophagogastric region
