Normal bowel wall(or wall thickness)
Esophagus
- length: 23 to 25 cm in the average adult.
- The wall of the distended esophagus is 3 mm in thickness
stomach
- a wall thickness of up to 5 mm is considered normal.
Small bowel
- The normal small bowel wall measures between 1 and 2 mm when the lumen is well distended with a positive, neutral, or air contrast medium.
