이질아메바(Entamoeba histolytica, E. histolytica)는 혈성 설사(dysentery)를 일으키는 Protozoa로 물 속의 cysts에 의해 감염된다.
특징
- bloody diarrhea, dysentery
- liver abscess
- 물 속의 cysts 통해 감염; 오염된 물 마시거나 수영 등의 히스토리
진단
- Serology
- RBC를 삼키고 있는 trophzoites
- 대변에서 4개의 핵을 가지고 있는 cysts
치료
- Metronidazole
- Iodoquinol: 무증상 감염자
