림프절(Lymph node)은 secondary lymphoid organ으로 macrophage의 여과와 B cell & T cell의 저장, 면역 반응 활성화의 기능을 한다.
구조와 기능
- Follicle: B cell의 localization과 proliferation
- Primary follicle: B cell rich, dormant
- Secondary follicle: pale Germinal center, active
- Medulla
- Medullary cord: lymphocytes와 plasma cell
- Medullary sinus: efferent lymphatics와 연결되며 reticular cell와 macrophage를 포함
- Paracortex: T cell 존재, follicle과 medullar 사이에 존재
- DiGeorge syndrome에서 잘 발달되지 않음
- 바이러스 감염 등으로 과한 cellular immune response 시 커짐
